Apolosign 15.6" Digital Photo Frame

Quick take

This is the larger size of Apolosign's classic photo frame, same matte black design and the same feature set as the 10.1", just with more screen for a wall, shelf, or photo wall where a bigger display makes sense.

What it actually does

The screen is a 15.6 inch 1080p FHD IPS touchscreen with a 178 degree viewing angle, so colors hold up whether you're looking at it dead-on or from an angle across the room. It auto-rotates between portrait and landscape depending on how it's set up.

Photos are managed through the Nixplay app (iOS and Android), not Frameo, which is what Apolosign's neon-lit frames use. Setup only takes a few steps, and you can share a code with friends or family so they can send photos directly to the frame without needing to be nearby.

Alexa voice control is built in, so volume, playback, and moving between photos can all be handled by voice instead of touching the screen. Free cloud storage is included too, on top of whatever's stored locally on the frame.

A smart sound sensor is part of the design as well, helping the frame manage when to stay active and when to quiet down, rather than running at full brightness around the clock.

At $109.90, it costs more than the 10.1" version, mainly for the larger screen, the feature set underneath is identical.

Pros and cons

What works

  • Larger screen than the 10.1" with the same classic, no-light-ring design
  • Built-in Alexa voice control, a feature the neon-lit frames don't have
  • Free cloud storage included alongside on-device storage
  • 178 degree viewing angle keeps colors accurate even off-center

What to know before buying

  • Uses the Nixplay app, not Frameo, so it's not interchangeable with Apolosign's neon-lit frames if you're mixing both
  • No light ring or color effects, that's exclusive to the neon-lit lineup

How it compares to the rest of the lineup

The 10.1" version of this same frame has the identical feature set in a smaller, cheaper package, a better fit for a desk or bedside table. If what you actually want is the glowing light-ring effect, that's a different product line entirely, the Neon-Lit Frames (9.7", 10.1", 14.1"), which use Frameo instead of Nixplay and don't include Alexa.

Who it's for

Good fit for a photo wall, living room shelf, or anywhere a bigger classic frame makes sense, especially if Alexa voice control matters to you.

Skip it if a smaller frame would do, the 10.1" has the same features for less. Also skip it if the light ring effect is what you actually want, that's only on the neon-lit models.

Common questions

Is this the same as the 10.1" frame, just bigger?

Yes, same app, same Alexa support, same design, just a larger 15.6" screen instead of 10.1".

Does this use the same app as the neon-lit frames?

No, this uses the Nixplay app, the neon-lit frames use Frameo, the two aren't interchangeable.

How do friends and family send photos?

You share a code with them through the Nixplay app, and any photo they send shows up on the frame.

Does it work with Alexa?

Yes, Alexa voice control is built in.

Can I connect it to Wi-Fi without issues?

It connects over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi only (802.11 b/g/n), so make sure your router has a 2.4GHz band enabled if you run into connection trouble.

Would the smaller size work just as well?

The 10.1" has the exact same features, including Alexa support, for less money if you don't need the bigger screen.
